Aspirations of Forty Acres and a Mule - the vindication of Queen Shirley

I just got off the phone with my brother who reminded me that the plight of the black farmer is as much a great historic struggle as the civil rights movement. He reminded me that the promise of forty acres and a mule was a potential remedy for slavery but, obviously few if any freed slaves received land or benefited from land ownership. Property rights affords free peoples benefits which allows them to leave a distinct legacy.

In early America Black folks were the ones who transformed our agricultural systems into an international power-house that eventually drove the mass production of the industrial revolution. Throughout the last two centuries Black people who possessed land were blatantly striped of that inalienable human right by the United States government, local racist goon squads and hordes of other corrupt individuals.

One of Shirley Sherrod's objectives in her professional life has been to address the issues facing all farmers, including the plight of the black farmer. She has proven to be an eloquent voice for the causes of these individuals, many of whom have seen their land and homes confiscated by systemic corruption and the evil deeds of heartless local authorities. Nonetheless, fighting to protect your land is the ultimate symbol of resistance which states that you are willing to protect your kinship and your family's  legacy. Mrs. Sherrod was born and raised into an upstanding and forthright kinship and as a young girl experienced a tragedy which brutality claimed her father's life, but did not annihilate his legacy.

The events of July 19, 2010 which cast Shirley Sherrod into the media spotlight speaks whole-heartedly to the sentiment that those peoples throughout the planet who cannot manage agricultural systems and/or protect their lands are unable to feed themselves. One can draw an analogy to the "landless masses" of urban America most of whom have little or no access to the daily nutritional requirements. Because the simply reality is that denial of Basic nutrition such as fruits, vegetables and grains is the politics of food. Without owning arable land and the knowledge to successfully manage agricultural systems, even the most altruistic endeavors will continue the plight of Black Farmer as non-subsistent. .

When "little andrew breitbart" makes the unabated claim that 'this was not about Shirley Sherrod", he's simply trying to deflect attention away from his willful act of deception and evade libelous legal action that will surely be pursued against him.
